Morphological seduction

The main technique that has been used to sell otherwise rational people on the absurd idea of evolutionary speciation is graduated visual morphing. Evolution is presented visually as a gradual process during which the appearance of an animal changes slowly over time. We are all familiar with these pictures: a chimp who gradually stands upright, loses his body hair and winds up looking like Fabio.  These pictures appear reasonable and are easy for the human mind to accept. The only problem is that they have nothing to do with reality. First of all, no one has found any skin or body hair from a Neanderthal or Java man. These are just artist's conceptions, presented as fact.

More importantly, there is no fossil record of transitional forms of man. There are skulls and teeth and bones from various types of men and apes. But none of it offers a clear transition from one to the other.  The idea that there are transitional forms is based on the human proclivity for interpolation. This is how movies work.  When you see numerous still pictures of a man running in rapid succession, your mind creates the illusion of a smooth running motion -- even though what you actually see is a series of still pictures. It's a useful mental trick, but it's no basis for science.  The real business of evolution wouldn't take place on the morphological level. It's not the shape of animal thats the issue. The issue is what happens at the genetic level. And they never show you any picture of that. That's because there is no working genetic model for evolutionary speciation.

Despite the lack of a plausible genentic mechanism, the scientific community is extremely passionate about defending the non-science of evolution. Why is this? One possible explanation is that modern science has essentially become a religion of its own. Every religion has a creation myth. Evolution is simply the creation myth of scientific humanism.

What makes evolution particularly mythical is the way so many scientists discuss the very beginnings of life on this planet. There is no truly scientific way to account for that first transition from non-life to life. The whole notion that complex proteins -- let alone living, reproducing organisms -= could somehow emerge spontaneously from a broth of nitrogen and carbon goes against the basic laws of physics. Yet the scientific community continues to put forth speculations about how such an event could occur.
